Frequently Asked Questions
A combination of the words ‘hack’ and ‘marathon’, the term ‘hackathon’ refers to an event in which participants compete to build working prototypes to solve specific problems. Participants are split into teams and given a key theme. The teams will then brainstorm to design an app that improves that area. At the end of a hackathon, teams pitch their ideas to a group of judges, with a trophy and/or cash prizes being awarded to teams.
Coders of the Caribbean is open to all participants between ages 12 – 30!
There is a JM $1500 cover charge for participants.
There will be designated sleeping areas that you can take a power nap in. Please take a sleeping bag or anything you need to be comfortable.
Our hackathon isn’t restricted to just the developer community. Anyone who can contribute to building a product is welcome to participate. Our hackathon is a perfect platform to build a working prototype in the form of a website, app or robot to solve a given problem.
You’d be surprised! This event is about getting in the zone and hacking something out to completion. It doesn’t have to be big or fancy. It doesn’t have to be perfect. At the end of the day, having that satisfied sense of accomplishment with your team is what matters.
